HYPNOBIRTHING CLASSES - Dunedin, NZ
Learn Breathing, Relaxation & Hypnosis Techniques To Soothe The Nervous System And Quiet The Mind For Labour & Birth
Hypnobirthing is more than just breathing and visualisations – it’s a full toolkit for birth.
This holistic antenatal course gives you practical tools to support your body, calm your mind, and help you feel confident every step of the way.
You'll learn how birth actually works, what to expect on the day, and how to make informed choices with clarity – no matter how your birth unfolds.
Because while every birth is different, every woman deserves to feel supported, empowered, and free from fear.
Hypnobirthing Will Benefit You If:

You had a previous difficult birth and are wanting to be better informed and empowered during this birth
You are wanting to explore other holistic pain relief options
You are wanting to prepare a birth plan/intention with informed choices so you are aware of all your birthing option
Together, we’ll explore the kind of preparation that helps you feel calm, informed, and deeply connected - not just ticking boxes, but building trust in your body and your instincts.
Here’s a taste of what we’ll cover over 2 Saturdays:
What’s really happening in labour – breaking down each phase so you know what to expect, how to work with your body, and when to lean into rest, movement, or breath.
Your body’s natural rhythm – learning about the incredible hormones of birth and how to support their natural flow.
Mindset shifts around intensity – seeing contractions as purposeful power, and using that energy rather than fearing it.
Simple but powerful breathwork – tools to stay present, calm, and grounded through every wave.
Setting up your birth space – how to create a calming, safe environment wherever you are — at home or in hospital.
Real comfort tools – everything from hands-on techniques and movement to medical pain relief options — so you feel prepared, not panicked.
Making room for baby – how your body opens, shifts, and moves — and how positioning can support progress.
Monitoring during labour – what’s commonly used, what’s optional, and how to stay in the loop with your care.
Preparing your support team – helping your partner or birth support feel ready and useful, not unsure or overwhelmed.
Navigating the unexpected – understanding interventions and how to stay grounded and empowered if plans need to shift.
Feeling confident in your choices – learning how to ask questions, speak up for what you need, and work with your care providers.
Meeting your baby – gentle, informed ways to support your baby’s transition from womb to world, with love and connection at the centre.
And we don’t stop at birth. We’ll also prepare for your Postpartum, exploring how to care for your body, rest and recover, nourish yourself well, and ease into motherhood with support and intention.
Because birth is just the beginning, and you deserve to feel held through it all.

Kind Words
“”I had a natural birth that last 13 hours from my waters breaking to holding him in our arms, labour established at 11am, fully dilated at 13.15 and in my arms at 14.19. We used all of the techniques at various points some more than others and I only had gas and air on and off for an hour...other than that zero pain relief! I honestly wouldn’t of believed I could of managed just on the techniques we learnt with you but I did.Thank you for all your help and everything you taught us. “”
“Thank you Jessica, for the best gift any mother could have, hope and the tools for a comfortable, drug free, natural birth”
“Jessica brought us a lot of essential knowledge about all the birthing process and was very clear and informative. Her class is hands on, with great step by step guidelines. Both my partner and I felt a lot more relaxed and confident just after the first class . From a male perspective, I highly recommend Hypnobirthing class as it has demystified a lot of the birthing images we can have, and has taught me how to be the best support and play an active role before and during birth .
Thank you so much ! .”
“We had an amazing planned home birth and used our hypnobirthing techniques especially breathe work and hip squeezes from start to finish. So glad I did your course!”
“The main element that I took away from the course and what got me through was being in the right frame of mind, getting control of my breathing and affirming to myself that “I can do anything for a minute”
“Jessica is a such a wonderful calming human to work with. She has a lot of knowledge and wisdom to share, weaving western and eastern philosophies together. I left the hypnobirthing classes feeling positive and empowered and she gave us many resources to continue our practice, in preparation for birth and post partum. I would definitely recommend working with her. Thank you so much Jessica”
“Jess was amazing, going through breathing techniques and hearing her voice automatically is relaxing. Having demos for partner involvement was great, some partners just don’t know what they can do to help, and makes them feel much more included on the journey”
“We have thoroughly enjoyed this well planned & accomplished Hypnobirthing course, it has been the best way to prepare our mind, body & soul for the arrival of our baby. The knowledge we gained is relevant & applicable not just in birthing but in everyday life! ”
FAQ
When Is The Best Time To Take The Hypnobirthing Classes? When you are ready and can fit it in. Some mums want to start at 20 weeks as it gives them more time to practice the techniques, and other mums start around 30ish weeks because they want it to feel fresh in their mind.
How is Hypnobirthing different from traditional Antenatal Classes? Hypnobirthing won’t replace traditional antenatal classes (if you are a first time mama, I recommend doing both), however what I have found is that these classes often focus on the physiological and medicalised process of birth with little time teaching skills and techniques to prepare you mentally, emotionally and physically for birth. As a doula I try to teach you as many practical skill as possible, essentially giving you framework to move through your labour.
What If My Partner Can’t Make a Class? No problem, I will partner with you on the day, and when you get home you will have a hypnobirthing book to go through with your birth partner
Will I Have a Pain Free Birth? While it’s likely that you may not require any medical pain relief during your birth, I’m hesitant to say “Pain Free”because the sensations that you will experience are normal physiological functional sensations (pain). What Hypnobirthing does is increase the endorphins (natural pain relief) and oxytocin (the love hormone) by working with breathing, relaxation and other holistic birth skills to flood the brain with pain free stimuli, making it much easier to ride the waves of the surges
