Birth Doula Support

As a Doula, I assist the birthing woman by using natural pain relief techniques, massage, encouragement, relaxation, breath tools and other comfort measures. I don’t just support you, I support and prepare your partner too, ensuring that both of you are ready to embrace and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience together!

How May Having A Doula Impact Your Birth?

Recent statistics have shown that having a birth doula can decrease :
Epidurals by 60%
Caesarean birth by 48%
Pictocin use by 40%
Length of labour by 25%

While these stats are incredible, my wish is for you to have your optimal birthing experience, feeling educated, and supported in your choices and empowered in your birthing ability.

She guided me through all my fears before birth and gave me the strength to push for what I needed from those I had chosen to support me. The second she arrived in my space when my labour started, everything felt safe, something that for me is invaluable.

Who Would Benefit Form Having A Birth Doula?

Every birthing mum would benefit from having extra positive support during labour. Whether it’s your first or fourth baby and whether you are choosing to have a home birth or a hospital birth. I’m there to provide continual support (practical and emotional) for you and your birth partner.

What Doulas Don’t Do…..

  • Perform clinical tasks such as vaginal exams or fetal heart monitoring.

  • Make decisions for you and your partner.

  • I will not judge you for decisions you make (only love and support you)

  • Doulas are NOT medical professionals.

  • They do not take over the role from your partner.

  • They do not assist in the delivery of your baby.

Ways I Can Help During Labour…..

  • Light touch massage and Reiki, hip squeezes, acupressure, rebozo.

  • Breathing and relaxation techniques (helping you to stay in “the zone” and re-centre when it feels overwhelming)

  • Help with optimal labour/birth positions

  • Setting up a positive and relaxing birthing environment for you

  • Keeping you hydrated throughout labour, it’s thirsty work!

  • Guide your partner (and other family members) to best support you

  • Keep you moving and resting according to your need and stage in labour

  • Help you stay to in line with your wishes and goals for your desired labour

  • Ensure you are never alone (unless you wish to be)

  • Stay with you after the birth to ensure you are feel settled and supported and baby has begun breastfeeding

  • Provide you with continuity of care - hence the importance of our prenatal meeting and continuous contact via email/text/phone so we are connected and you feel comfortable and supported

By having Jessica at our birth gave me & partner the best possible support we needed to navigate the greatest out come for our birth. It was totally not the home birth we had planned but still a very positive birth even with an induction

Kind words from mamas I have supported

“We had the absolute pleasure of having Jessica as our doula at the beginning of March, and it was such a life changer for us. I knew I wanted to experience having a doula for my last birth as I wanted to make sure I had the most support possible. Jessica always went above and beyond my expectations. Not only was she kind and comfortable to be around but she was very knowledgeable and holistically minded, which was perfect for us. Jessica was a huge support leading up to the birth, during and after. Offering loving and encouraging words when needed, tuning into what kind of support I needed during birth and suppling so many wonderful resources along the way. Having a doula should not be a luxury, I wish every women was able to experience that and I would 100% recommend Jessica to anyone looking for one. Thank you so much for being part of such a special experience and for contributing to it being the best labour and birth. We’ll never forget it. Forever grateful xx

“I first met Jessica when I was five months pregnant at a local cafe where we spent a good hour or two chatting all things pregnancy, birth & beyond. I knew I wanted a Doula for my planned home birth but was aware they were hard to find in this part of the world. Thankfully I felt an instant connection with Jessica & her gentle, holistic & informed approach to birth. She oozed warmth, kindness and a profound knowledge base and it was a no brainer for us to invest in having her at our birth. We first attended her hypnobirthing classes which armed us with a variety of techniques & skills to utilise during birth with a strong focus on body autonomy & breathe work. These classes not only expanded our knowledge on birth they also taught me how to work with the intrinsic power of my body and to channel my own strength instead of out sourcing it. These classes were deeply empowering for myself & my partner. I loved how Jessica was passionate about providing the men with a toolkit of skills to help their partners through labour so they felt part of the process instead of feeling helpless. I went into my birth feeling relaxed, empowered and respected. From the moment Jessica arrived at our home birth I felt a wave of relief sweep over me. She provided an extra blanket of protection and advocacy for our birthing wishes and was immense comfort & support for my mother and partner. She was relentless in her encouragement & was instrumental in the progress I was able to make in my labour in the comfort of my own home. I will be forever grateful for the level of care she provided myself, my mother and my partner during my labour. She worked in harmony with my midwifes and bridged a vital gap between their care & the support of my family. I wouldn’t hesitate to have her at my next birth and would strongly recommend every couple to consider having her at their birth. Having a doula at your birth shouldn’t be seen as a luxury, it’s a necessity in my opinion. Thank you Jessica for the wonderful work you do in this space xx

‘‘By having Jessica at our birth gave me & partner the best possible support we needed to navigate the greatest out come for our birth. It was a totally not the home birth we had planned but still a very positive birth even with an induction. She was non intrusive but very intune with mine & my partners needs. She gave us the strength we needed to advocate for ourselves through the medical world. Which can be very daunting and can make you seIf doubt. I am 100% positive that because of the questions and choices we made that it changed the entire landscape of our birth. For that I am so incredibly grateful for because I know for certain I would have ended up with postnatal if we didn’t get to make theses major decisions. Thank you so much Jessica for helping my family have the best possible start in life! So much Love and Respect!

“Jessica, how can I even put what you were for us into words?!
Jessica was for me, for my partner, for us. A reminder to be centred, to focus on my own needs and to find the calm that would become my birth. She guided me through all my fears before birth and gave me the strength to push for what I needed from those I had chosen to support me. The second she arrived in my space when my labour started, everything felt safe, something that for me is invaluable. Not only did she provide comfort and natural pain relief she encouraged and supported my partner to do the same and in doing so helped to heal a bond that had been broken between us since the birth of our first baby. Jessica was everything I needed to have the birth I had dreamed of,  and a added bonus of being fed the warm honeyed oats she made for after birth was utter bliss.
